Success Story in Overbrook

In November 2023, we received a heartfelt plea from a concerned neighbor about a neglected property negatively impacting the tight-knit community. The complaint detailed: “…40 years of no maintenance, currently fire damaged and vacant since December of 2021. 60 L&I violations, 12 from 2023…”

Upon investigation, we discovered the property in a dismal state. Once a grand home, years of neglect had left it in ruins. Broken windows and a deteriorating roof stood as stark reminders of its past grandeur. The compromised porch, graffiti, overgrowth, and fallen trees further accentuated its decline. A recent fire and reports of unlawful entry added to the urgency for action.

In stark contrast to the other well-maintained, stately stone and brick homes in the neighborhood, this property had become an eyesore and a safety hazard, an attractive nuisance providing shelter for animals and unauthorized trespassers.

Determined to restore the community’s beauty and safety, we took legal action. The result? Upon being served, and under Court oversight, the owner sold the property to a qualified, reputable builder. The transformation began immediately, with the builder undertaking a complete renovation to remove the blight.

As we write this, the progress is remarkable. Overgrowth has been cleared, new windows gleam in the sunlight, and the roof and fascia have been meticulously repaired. We eagerly anticipate the completion of construction in the near future, looking forward to welcoming a revitalized home into the community and celebrating the unity and resilience that made this transformation possible.
